Summary/Description:

customers' needs better than all alternatives. This position is part
of a team focused on the development and implementation of existing
and novel genetic technologies within a swine nucleus breeding
program designed to improve the performance of company lines at the
commercial level. An ideal candidate will appreciate the opportunity
to work on a wide array of projects, interpret the results, and
communicate implications. We are seeking a candidate who is
passionate about analyzing data and researching new methods. This
candidate will also be able to interpret results and explain their
business impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  *   Completing the trait development process from start to finish
including trait definition, model evaluation, variance component
estimation, economic value determination, and implementation in
selection program
  *   Statistical analyses including linear and nonlinear mixed
model, Bayesian, and multivariate analyses utilizing phenotypic and
genomic data
  *   Combining information from multiple data sources (nucleus,
multiplier, and commercial)
  *   Be engaged in experimental design and implementation to ensure
valuable outcomes from trials
  *   Effectively summarize project findings to communicate value to
key stakeholders
  *   Work effectively as part of a team to continuously improve
genetic program
  *   Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency
  *   Remain up to date on newly developed technologies that could
enhance the company's ability to drive genetic progress

Qualifications/Requirements:

  *   PhD in animal breeding and genetics, statistics, or related
analytical field
  *   3+ years of experience, preferred
  *   Demonstrated ability in statistical analyses
  *   Extensive knowledge of experimental design
  *   Experience organizing and analyzing large volumes of data in a
Linux environment
  *   Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g. R) and
variance component estimation software (e.g. ASReml and BLUPF90)
  *   Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  *   Excellent oral and written communication skills
  *   Experience with SQL database and/or other programming language
preferred
  *   Experience analyzing genomic data preferred
  *   Working knowledge of the biological and economic aspects of
commercial pork production systems preferred
