Subject: Celebrating the retirement of Dr. Max Rothschild
Date: Mon, 29 Jun 2020 22:25:45 -0500

Dr. Max Rothschild, distinguished professor at Iowa State University, and
former USDA Pig Genome Coordinator, has retired from Iowa State University
after his 40 successful years of well-remembered research, teaching, and
international activities.

Max's footprints can be traced from classical/quantitative genetics to
molecular gene mapping and to the era of high-throughput genomics/selection.
Max often tells people that the highlight of his career has been working
with the great people he has met and collaborated over the years. His long
time great efforts in the field of animal genetics/breeding are continued
by many of his more than 100 students, postdocs, and visiting scientists
from more than 30+ countries, who are now working on the frontiers of
animal genetics/genomics research, education, and industry, while some
others migrated further to other successful careers. Please join me
wishing him well in his retirement!

As we wish him a happy retired life by spending more time with family and
fishing activities, Max still plans to stay involved at Iowa State as the
Visions conference he was planning has been postponed until May 2021.
I am sure we will see him again -- at least on the Visions conference
next year (https://www.animalgenome.org/share/visions/).

Now Max is a "Distinguished Professor Emeritus" at the ISU and can still be
reached by email: mfrothsciastate.edu
