USDA ARS is recruiting the following shellfish geneticist position in Newport,
OR

Position: Research Geneticist (Animal)

Salary Range: $91,231 - $140,146

Open: 03/30/2020 – 04/29/2020

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Forage
Seed and Cereal Research Unit seeks a Research Geneticist, GS-0440-13/14
($91,231 - $140,146 per annum, plus benefits). The incumbent is located
in Newport, OR and leads a team of ARS and Oregon State University
scientists in breeding and genetics research aimed at enhancing shellfish

provide improved germplasm to the U.S. marine aquaculture industry,
ii) develop new information and theories about genetic improvement of
shellfish and iii) communicate the scientific progress of the program to
academic institutions, industry and the public in scientific and technical
publications and presentations. The position offers opportunities to
collaborate with shellfish growers, geneticists, breeders and other
scientists from university, industry, government and ARS locations on
investigations of broad and complex problems related to shellfish and
shellfish production. Scientists interested in leading a publically
funded breeding and genetics research project that addresses the needs
of an interesting and novel production system should apply. Final grade
level may be determined by a peer review panel.
