SUBJECT: CONAFE needs a BREEDING SPECIALIST to join the Technical
Department staff.

CONAFE is the Spanish Holstein Confederation, an organization gathered by
the Regional Associations of Holstein Breeders in Spain. The most important
aim of CONAFE is the development of the Spanish Breeding programme of the
Holstein breed, which includes the management of the Herdbook, the National
Milk Recording database and the Genetic Evaluation Unit of the breed.

CONAFE is also the Spanish representative within the cooperative
EuroGenomics of which it is part, together with Spanish Breeding Companies.

Workplace responsibilities

- Calculation of genetic and genomic breeding values.
- Implementation of collection of information about new traits.
- Collaboration in R&D&I projects.
- Collaboration in projects of the EuroGenomics cooperative.
- Communication of results of Breeding programme through CONAFE’s media
  and other channels.

Requirements for employment eligibility

- PhD or MSc degree in Animal Science, Quantitative Genetics or similar.
- Knowledge of Breeding programmes.
- Programming skills in FORTRAN or similar computer languages.
- Positive rating:
  o Previous experience with genetic and genomic evaluations.
  o Knowledge of statistical packages (SAS, R, etc).
  o Knowledge of programming on databases (SQL, Visual Basic, Cesar and
    other).
  o Knowledge of Spanish and English at a medium-high level
