QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | 350 DUROC BREED BARROWS |
Breeds associated:
|
Design: | The barrows were bred under intensive conditions of feeding and handling and they were slaughtered when they reached 122 kg of live weight (≈180-200 days). After slaughter in a commercial abattoir, carcass weight (CW) registers were obtained with a scale. Lean meat percentage (LE%) was inferred on the basis of AutoFom fat and muscle thickness data. The following traits were measured in the cutting room 24-hours after slaughtering: (i) BFT measured with a ruler at the mid-dorsal line of the spinal col |
Analysis: | Pigs were genotyped for ~ 60,000 SNP markers with the Porcine SNP60 BeadChip (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA), as previously reported (Manunza et al. 2014). The resulting SNP dataset was filtered by excluding individuals with > 10% missing genotypes. We also removed SNPs with a minimum allele frequency lower than 0.05 or a call rate < 95%. Markers that departed significantly from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium expectations (significance threshold with P-value <0.001) and those located on sexual chromosomes we |
