  •  QTL Experiment in Brief
Animals:Resource flock of Indonesian Thin Tail sheep (ITT, known to have FecB mutation) crossed with Merino sheep. Nine families were created by backcrossing reciprocal ITT x Merino F1 to Merino ewes.
     Breeds associated:
    n/a
Design:694 progeny were genotyped. Lambs reared to 500 days. Testicle weight with/without skin and live weight were measured at slaughter. 138 markers were analysed: 97.9 on average were informative per family. Mean male intermarker interval was 28.1cM.
Analysis:General linear regression method with various fixed effects considered. Single QTL model analysis using the half-sib analysis of QTL Express (Haley and Knott, 1992). Chromosome-wide significance threshold was subject to permutation test (1000).
Software:ITT map was constructed using Carthagene using already known lin
