Swine in Biomedical Research

Location: University of Maryland-Baltimore, MD
Brief info:
This meeting represents the sixth (1995, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, *2017*) in a series of conferences that have highlighted the utility of porcine models in biomedical research. Investigators with interest in using swine models for agricultural or biomedical investigation, will find this to be a great conference to network and foster collaborations with industry and academic contacts.

Livestock High-Throughput Phenotyping and Big Data Analytics

Location: USDA National Agricultural Library, MD
Brief info:
This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss how cutting-edge methodologies to manage and analyze large diverse livestock data can be applied to the animal sciences. The goal of this meeting is to gather a diverse group of animal scientists in across disciplines to stimulate the livestock research community to expand the use of high-throughput data and develop a vision and strategy to apply these data to production agriculture.

11th World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production (WCGALP)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Brief info:
This is the premier conference for researchers and professionals involved in genetic improvement of livestock. Delegates from around the world gather every four years to attend the scientific program and to network with colleagues. This 11th WCGALP builds on previous successful congresses in Madrid (Spain, 1974 and 1982), Lincoln (USA, 1986), Edinburgh (UK, 1990), Guelph (Canada, 1994), Armidale (Australia, 1998), Montpellier (France, 2002), Belo Horizonte (Brazil, 2006), Leipzig (Germany, 2010) and Vancouver (Canada, 2014). Will be held in conjunction with the International Committee of Animal Recording (ICAR) annual conference, and the Interbull Annual Conference.
Early registration ends: December 01, 2016
Abstract due: September 07, 2017

Gordon Conference on Quantitative Genetics and Genomics - Deciphering the Genetic Basis of Complex Phenotypes for the Benefit of

Location: Hotel Galvez Galveston, TX
Brief info:
Genomic selection has revolutionized animal and plant breeding and these methodologies are likely to have a major impact in human medicine as well -- yet scientists already face what appear to be potential limitations of the technology. How to overcome these limitations, via a deeper understanding of the interactions between environmental context and the genetic architecture of complex traits, will be one of the major discussion points
