Multiple Traits


When one is trying to determine what type of offspring you will get from two parents when you are selecting for two traits, the punnett square of forkline method is very effective. The solution can be found in a similiar pattern much like the single trait problems that were just completed.

The first step is to figure how many possible gametes can be produced by each parent. The possible gametes for the male should be placed on the topof the square, and the female on the vertical axis.

For instance, a male possesses AaBB and the female possesses aabb.

If you choose to use the forkline method with the same parents, it will look like this:
