Subject: More information about CRI-MAP v2.504
Date: Sun, 23 Sep 2012 20:40:49 -0500

Hi All

For those of you who have downloaded version 2.504.

If you have problems compiling the new version and the error message refers
to "values.h" then replace values.h with float.h in e_chrom.c, e_ped.c,
get_like.c and screen_o.c. The values.h problem will occur for people using
MacBooks and maybe some others.

The Makefile currently has debug turned on. If you wish too turn it
off before compiling change the line
CDEBUGFLAGS     = -g -O
to
CDEBUGFLAGS =
in the Makefile. Having debug on is really only useful if crimap
crashes and one wants to get information about what part of the code
is causing the crash.

We tightened up the parent/pedigree checking in v2.504 so that pedigrees
need to be correct before the program will create a dat file.

Please note that according to the original CRI-MAP documentation both
parents are meant to be specified as non 0 if one parent is non 0. The
original v2.4 documentation for creating gen files states "The pedigree
structure must be completely specified; this means that for any individual
with an ancestor in the pedigree, both parents must be assigned ID #'s and
must appear in the file. " Previous versions of CRI-MAP did not check this,
and as part of improving the pedigree checking we decided to enforce this,
as well as check for discordancies in parental sex.

Regards

Jill
