Subject: INRAE Animal Genetic division is recruiting 2
research scientists until 4 March 2021
Date: Wed, 03 Feb 2021 08:55:45 -0600

INRAE (The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and
Environment) is recruiting talented and motivated researchers by open
competition and offering permanent position. General information on the
recruitment procedure is available at : https://tinyurl.com/y2y32jre

Please note that the applicants have to produce a scientific report
following formal guidelines, and that selection of the successful
candidates is in two stages. The first stage-selection is based on the
reports sent in due time, and candidates selected on the basis of their
report are audited for the final, second stage.

Applications are open from February 2 to March 4, 2021

Two positions are open in the Animal Genetics Division

1. Research scientist in genomic data modeling for the study of adaptive
dynamic of population

- Before applying, please contact: Bertrand Servin (bertrand.servininrae.fr)
- Team: Evolutionary Dynamics of Genomes (Dynagen) at the Genetics, Physiology
and Breeding Systems Research Unit (GenPhySE),

https://genphyse.toulouse.inra.fr/groups/dynagen

- Location : Toulouse (FRANCE)

- Skills: With a PhD in genetics or statistics, you have research
experience in the development of statistical models and methods for
the analysis of large-scale data. You have an interest in evolution
and population genetics, a taste for data analysis and interdisciplinary
collaborations. Knowledge of French is not a requirement. French or
European Union nationalities are not required.

The Genetics, Physiology and Breeding Systems Research Unit (GenPhySE) is
composed of 150 permanent staff. The unit brings together expertise in
biology, physiology, genomics, genetics, statistics and bioinformatics.
Research developed in the unit aims to better understand the biology of
domestic animals and, in particular, the genetic determinism of traits, to
contribute to the agroecological transition of breeding systems. One of the
challenges is to identify the genetic polymorphisms associated with traits,
to understand their effects on the expression and functioning of genomes,
and to use this information to improve animal breeding schemes.

2. Research scientist in genetics and behaviour of poultry in animal
Production

- Before applying, please contact: Sandrine Grasteau
 (sandrine.grasteauinrae.fr) or Elisabeth Duval (elisabeth.duvalinrae.fr)

- Team: Adaptation, Quality and Selection (AQSEL) at the Avian Biology and
  poultry Research unit (BOA) (
https://www6.val-de-loire.inrae.fr/boa_eng)

- Location : Tours (FRANCE)

- Skills: You have skills in ethology and good knowledge of quantitative
genetics. You have a pronounced affinity for data analysis. Experience or
an interest in experimentation will be an additionnal asset. Knowledge of
French is not a requirement. French or European Union nationalities are
not required.

The Avian Biology and Poultry Research Unit (BOA) is composed of 40
permanent staff members, in which are carried out integrated researches on
bird biology, from the molecular level to the level of the animal in its
environment. Theses researches produce knowledge in avian physiology and
genetics and contribute to the transition of animal husbandry systems to
respond to agroecology challenges.

For both positions, candidates should have a good command of English. An
international experience (one or more years) is expected but successful
candidates who have not yet acquired this experience abroad will be
required to do so after their probationary period (1st year).

INRAE is the world's number one institute for research on agriculture,
food, and the environment. Because of its leadership position, the
institute can help find the solutions that we need as we face this
century's global challenges, namely climate change, food security, and the
loss of biodiversity.
