Dear Colleagues-
The Animal Genomics and Improvement Laboratory in Beltsville, MD, is
accepting applications for a Research Geneticist (Animals) to join the
Animal Improvement Program ( https://aipl.arsusda.gov/). The successful
applicant will work with a group of internationally known, award-winning
scientists that includes Paul VanRaden, Curt Van Tassell, and John Cole on
research related to the discovery and development of improved methods for
the genetic and genomic evaluation of economically important traits of
dairy animals. Resources available to the incumbent include access to the
National Cooperators Database maintained by the Council on Dairy Cattle
Breeding, the Collaborative Dairy DNA Repository, and 1000 Bull Genomes
data. Our researchers are supported by an experienced team of Animal
Scientists, an IT Specialist, and a Program Support Assistant. We also have
an excellent team of postdoctoral scientists and visiting scientists
working with us. There are opportunities for collaboration with other
groups in the Laboratory that are focused on the development of genomic
tools and improvement of animal efficiency and sustainability.
