SUMMARY

The expectations of this position are to develop and implement genomic
and quantitative technologies, tools and data to achieve genetic gains
and competitive advantage that are in line with business objectives.
In addition, the successful candidate may contribute to areas such as;
big-data analyses for genomic evaluations of pedigree and production
data, and analyses of high-dimensional data from sensor technologies.
A further expectation is to interact with external research consultants.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Doctoral Degree PhD with an emphasis in Animal Breeding and Genetics
preferred.

Experience:

3 plus years related experience in the field of genetics and genomics
research.

Computer Skills:

Requires advanced computer programming skills in languages relevant
to phenotypic and genotypic data analyses. Experience in some or all of
the following will be highly regarded: conducting genetic evaluations,
estimation of variance components, Bayesian and non-Bayesian genomic
evaluations, imputation, analyses to understand genetic architecture
of economically relevant traits, machine learning, and bioinformatics.
Exposure to animal breeding is beneficial but is not required.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong
interpersonal skills.

Supervisory:  None.

Travel: 10 – 15% of the time.


Biosecurity:

The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering before
entering the facility and could require multiple showers during the workday.
Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry
may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing
to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds).
The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times. Must be
willing to follow the guidelines in the Biosecurity Standards.

Physical:

Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this
job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands
to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands
and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear. The team member must occasionally
lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment Required:
When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety
procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment. Personal
