As a leader in applying cutting-edge technology to animal breeding,
STgenetics is seeking a motivated Bioinformatician as part of the genetics
and genomics research team. In this role, you will be part of the research
and development team, managing and analyzing NGS projects and maintaining
error-free databases and support researchers in their roles. This position
is based in College Station, TX.

Title: Bioinformatician and Data Analyst

Duties:

• Analyzing high throughput NGS data
• Designing and optimizing new SNP-chip panels to match the different
  business needs
• Designing bioinformatics pipelines for sequence data analyses
• Variant calling using Genotyping by Sequencing (GBS) platform
• Multidisciplinary analysis to better understand underlying biological
  networks
• Timely data uploading to the database
• Perform data QC and developing tools to mine the database
• Correct and track errors/changes in the database
• Support users to extract and manipulate files
• Import/export and manipulate large datasets
• Build scripts to automate daily tasks
• Monitor dataflow and quality into the database

Experience:
• PhD or Master in Bioinformatics or related field
• Understanding animal breeding and genetics is a bonus
• A thorough understanding of the different sequencing technologies
• Expertise in handling large datasets in Unix environment
• Experienced user of high-performance computing systems
• Expertise in one or more scripting language(s) (e.g. Shell, R, Python,
  Perl)
• Good scripting for SQL and using of MS SQL Server suite
• Excellent attention to details
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent English language communication skills, verbal and written
