BioStat Solutions, Inc. (BSSI) is a statistical consulting corporation in
service to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and biodefense industries.
BSSI’s key service areas include the development and implementation of
analytical strategies for biomarker studies, biodefense countermeasure
development, and medical device / (companion) diagnostic studies.

*Job Objective:*

Statistical geneticist to provide strategic development and analytical
support to clients with respect to analyses of omic data

*Details:*

 - Assist clients by providing analytical omics strategies in major
   therapeutic areas and diseases
 - Evaluate and incorporate latest analytical approaches in statistical
   genetics into an industry environment
 - Conduct work in accordance with BSSI standard operating procedures
   (SOPs), BSSI QA/QC policies, client-specific requirements and applicable
   regulatory guidelines
 - Provide oversight and leadership with respect to cutting edge
   approaches in analyses and interpretation of omics studies
 - Develop statistical analysis plans in accordance with study objectives
   for clients
 - Identify, evaluate and recommend statistical methods for use in
   analysis as appropriate
 - Perform statistical programming, analyses and interpretation of
   findings (R, SAS, and other appropriate languages)
 - Provide quality control and analysis of a wide spectrum of datasets
   (targeted studies, genome-wide association studies, next generation
   sequencing, targeted sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics,
   etc.)
 - Validate and interpret statistical genetic results with internal
   and/or external team members
 - Provide technical writing for analysis plans, protocols and regulatory
   documents as needed, and summarize results (i.e. tables, figures and
   listings) for inclusion in presentations or reports
 - Provide guidance to BSSI’s Statistical Analysts on topics such as
   statistical methodology and programming
 - Disseminate effective analytical approaches in precision medicine to
   team
 - Attend on site client visits and present findings as needed

*Qualifications:*

 - Ph.D. REQUIRED. Preferred Degree in: Statistics, Statistical Genetics,
   Population Genetics, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics
 - Knowledge of statistical methodologies and applications in genetics/
   precision medicine is required
 - Experience with omic data is required; experience with sequencing data
   (e.g. DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq) is preferred
 - Experience with public databases (e.g. 1000 Genomes Project, TCGA,
   dbGaP) is preferred
 - Proficiency in R, SAS, or Python programming is required; proficiency
   in multiple languages is preferred; experience in Linux/UNIX environment
   is preferred
 - Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
 - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 - Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the US
