QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | Paternal half-sib families were constructed from pedigree records collected by the Japan Wagyu Registry Association (Kyoto, Japan). DNA samples were available as part of a systematic program for collecting DNA at slaughterhouses. |
Breeds associated:
n/a
|
Design: | Body weight at the slaughterhouse, carcass weight, rib eye area, rib thickness, subcutaneous fat thickness, carcass yield estimate, and beef marbling score were measured by the Japan Meat Grading Association. |
Analysis: | DNA samples were prepared from semen, blood, or adipose tissue according to standard protocols, and the DNA concentration was adjusted to 20 ng/ll. PCR was performed. Following PCR, alleles were resolved by electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gels. |
Software: | GENESCAN & GenoGenotyper software (Applied Biosystems) |
