Animals:80 Brahman (B), Angus (A), and F1 parents and grandparents with fourteen Angus (BCA) backcross (6 [AB, BA] A and 8 A [AB, BA]), 15 Brahman (BCB) backcross (7 [AB, BA] B and 8 B [AB, BA]) and 3 F2 (BA AB) families.
     Breeds associated:
    n/a
Design:Among the traits analyzed in this study were birth weight; weaning weight; yearling weight; slaughter weight; hot carcass weight; adjusted subcutaneous fat thickness between the 12th and 13th ribs; and percentage of kidney, pelvic, and heart fat.
Analysis:Two interval-mapping approaches were applied for the detection of QTL segregating between or within breeds: multiple regression interval mapping under the line-cross model, and approximate restricted maximum likelihood(REML) mapping under the random model.
