Salmonids Genomics

Coordinator: Yniv Palti

The salmonids are members of the family salmonidae and include the Salmo, Oncorhynchus, and Salvelinus genera. The development of genome resources to facilitate research in these species results from their use in studying evolution, as a model organism in biomedical research, and as an aquaculture species. The well-characterized species with respect to genomics are Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout, although genetic maps have been developed for several other species including Chinook salmon and Artic char.
